About Me

From a young age, I knew only one thing: I would be an interior designer.
The path to arrive here looked different than most designers.

Fresh out of high school, I enjoyed selling furniture, custom draperies, and window treatments at the Decorating Shop in Colorado Springs.

I then shifted gears to follow the footsteps of many of my family and joined the Army for six years of duty. After my service, I put my decorating dreams on hold again when a series of family health crises steered me instead to pursue nursing.

So, after earning my MBA, I enjoyed a 20+ year career as an RN, ending at Mission Health as Care Partner’s Chief Nursing Officer.

I turned toward design as a creative outlet throughout my various career roles. I spent four years in Chicago, challenging myself to use only resale furniture and art to decorate my homes. I moved six times in 4 years! Some of those pieces remain as part of my permanent collection.

During my time in Asheville, I renovated two homes, a 750-square-foot roundhouse in Fairview and a 1929 home in North Asheville.

I also maintained a side-hustle restoring furniture and reupholstering antique chairs and settees because I couldn’t get the design bug out of my system.

Upholstery and restoration continue to be rewarding handwork, but my clients often have design needs beyond what fabric or paint could solve. After going the extra mile to advise my furniture clients on pattern mixing, color coordinating, space perspective, and function, I knew I could offer more.

Decorating Den Interiors is a great fit for implementing my design work.

My years of nursing, renovating, and customizing furniture have given me a keen ability to find solutions to meet an individual’s needs and desires.

And, with access to almost 300 high-quality suppliers through Decorating Den, I help my clients pull a space together from windows to floors.

I’m a master at working with awkward or ill-defined spaces and incorporating cherished heirlooms, currently hiding in the garage, into the design. And, since I have two exceptionally goofy and hairy dogs, I love troubleshooting practical solutions for pets.

We’ll start your project with an interview about function first; the most beautiful areas in your home should also be comfortable and useful.

Let’s get started. I can’t wait to work with you! Contact us today!
